Indiana Governmental Affairs Committee

SMILE on Down Syndrome has been an active participant in the Indiana Governmental Affairs Committee since the beginning of 2009. The purpose is to be kept informed about legislation on the state level as well as the national level which affects the world of Down syndrome and how we can protect and advocate for our loved ones with Down syndrome.

At this time Nina would like to seek out one volunteer from our SMILE parents to commit to one monthly phone call via teleconference (typically during a one hour daytime call), take notes and then report to me the discussion of the meeting in order for us to determine if we need to take action, disseminate information, etc. That is 98% of the responsibility of this volunteer position. You would be our SMILE rep for the Indiana GAC (Governmental Affairs Committee). Nina believes the next call will be Tues, April 20th at 10 AM EST.

Please feel free to contact Nina at 449-6049 if you would like to volunteer and discussion any questions you might have on this. She will forward you the contact info for the call-in.
