RPR Training-Days 1 & 2/Rehab Workshop
Title/Description: RPR Training-Days 1 & 2/Rehab Workshop – Regional Parent Resource (RPR) Training-Days 1 & 2. Participants must be a parent of a child with special needs. Parents attending will learn about state and federal laws pertaining to special education to assist them with issues related to their child/children and to help other parents in their local community. Topics covered included federal (IDEA) and state (Article 7) special education laws, procedural safeguards, communication and problem-solving, related services, First Steps early intervention services, IEP and the special education process, transition to adult services, etc. The Rehab section of the training will provide disability information related to the provisions of the Rehabilitation Act and Amendments; the process of making a successful transition from school to adult life; utilizing effective communication skills; and providing information, individual assistance and training to others. Registration is required; space is limited. Presented by Wilner Cusic, INSOURCE Program Specialist, and Anita Lewis, INSOURCE Regional Program Specialist.
Location: Evansville School Corporation-Special Education Services Center, 2150 Stringtown Road, Evansville, IN.
